Study Details:

We conduct multiple clinical studies every year to test prototypes of new generations of Lyric before releasing them to the public. Ideal candidates should be interested in exploring and improving new hearing aid technology not already available on the market AND derive satisfaction in knowing their feedback will help better the Lyric product for future generations of those with hearing impairment. There is no charge to you for participating in these clinical studies. Studies are ongoing and will continue for the life of the company as Insound Medical continues to develop new generations of Lyric.
 
Because many of the studies involve prototype devices not yet proven or available to Lyric providers, those simply interested in the Lyric device currently offered should contact a Lyric provider nearest them for a risk free 30-day trial period (visit www.lyrichearing.com to find a provider near you).

Studies generally last 120 days at which time the device(s) are removed. A subject is required to visit our facility in Newark, CA (near Fremont) approximately 6 times for each study.  These visits generally take approximately 30 minutes, during which time aided hearing tests, surveys and questionnaires will be administered.  
 
Upon completion of a study, every effort is made to fit subjects with another Lyric device as soon as possible, depending on our inventory.  On rare occasions, it could take as long as 2-3 months to be refit.  
 
Subjects currently in Lyric subscriptions are ineligible to participate as research subjects.

In order to determine study candidacy, several questions related to medical and audiological history must be reviewed.  Following this interview, we will schedule an appointment to size your ear canals and perform routine audiometric (hearing) testing.  The Lyric device is built in several sizes to accommodate various sized and shaped ear canals - we have developed a highly specialized sizing system using a microscope to appropriately measure how to best fit you.
